Announcement: Help Me Out, Tag Your Posts

As you may have noticed, the Best of Oppositelock !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It's a time consuming task to scroll through the [sometimes/often] 20+ pages of Oppo, categorize posts and then write up, make images for and format a post covering it all. I'm hoping that everyone can help me out a bit.

What I'm going to ask everyone to do is to add tags relevant to each section of the Best of Oppo to their posts, blog for longer articles and the like, happenings for things such as C&C photo dumps, trip journals etc*, discussion for a post that is thought provoking or asks a question and tips for neat stories, videos, etc. you may have found. If you're not sure where your post might fall, feel free to add more than one of the above. As long as it's tagged I'll see it and will be able to decide from there on.

*For the Best of the Rest section, please, someone come up with a better name, it's almost derogatory to the posts that end up there. If someone comes up with something good, maybe the tag should be changed reflect the new name.

Now, I can't expect everyone to see this post and do as I've asked. I'll do my best to include posts that haven't been tagged but some will likely be missed. If this is the case, I encourage the author to me know in the relevant Best of Oppo post. When this happens, I will refer them to this post and hold their post(s) in consideration for the next Best of Oppo.

Instead of BOTR why not try something like DasWauto's Favorites or DasWauto Approved? Furthermore I love the Best of Oppo posts but I don't think anyone would be offended if you condensed a little bit ya know what a mean? Maybe not #tips or #discussions just to make it easier on you?

It will definitely be condensed. To the point where I won't put in the effort to search for all the posts. I'm just gonna go directly to the tag pages and grab from there. It's too much of a timesink otherwise.

We're not supposed to tag smaller posts, or blips, or all those things that wouldn't make it into Best of Oppo, though are we? For example, if I posted a single picture of a car with no comment, but tagged it, it would only make things harder, correct?

So this is kind of stupid question, I'm new to this. When I click on add a tag, what do I type? Say this week I'll probably be posting my C&C photos. So do I click on add tags and just type "happenings" wiothouth the quotes?

Yep, you got it. It will add the tag at the top of the page which can then be clicked to see all the posts with the same tag . I'll use this to sort through posts later.

I'd like to keep these tags to posts that might make it into a best of Oppo. Feel free to tag other posts with as many humorous/relevant/irreverent tags as you like though, it's not a feature reserved just for my purpose.

Keep using your tags, but add BLOG or DISCUSSION or TIPS as well, when applicable, so they'll show up when he does his searches for forthcoming Best Of OPPO posts.

Oh no, that's totally fine, I'm just asking authors to categorize their posts so that I may gather them more easily later. Posts such as those you mention would probably go under happenings. If for example you were to write a longer post (or article, if you like) detailing your roadtrip, perhaps including a bunch of photos, something like that might go under blog . These are just categorization tags, feel free to use as many other tags as you like to describe the post topic or to tie a series together.

Don’t sweat it. If anything I’m tempted to drop the best of Oppo and Oppoblog entirely. To be frank, I have better things to do.

We share posts from those when we see worthy ones shared to Oppo, aside from that, I can’t really create a separate section on Oppoblog, can’t really sub-blog a sub-blog, if you know what I’m saying.
